About the Service
Cytanet’s Safe Internet - for home aims to help its customers protect their children from illegal, undesirable and harmful Internet content and determine the time that they can have Internet access. The service is provided as a FREE facility to
Cytanet subscribers.
The service is provided with predefined profiles, to help you start using it as soon as you install it, without any configurations. However, if you want to adapt the service to your specific needs, a quite simple and practical procedure enables you to select the categories of Internet content, specific websites or Internet applications to which you do not want your child to have access, and to determine the amount of time that is allowed for Internet access by each user of your computer.
With Safe Internet, you can:
- Install the filtering software on up to three (3) computers.
- Create up to five (5) user profiles, selecting for each the categories of content to which access is denied and applications that may not be used.
- Choose from among more than 60 different categories for filtering, such as Drugs, Electronic Gambling, Violence, Adult Content, Social Networking, Games, Politics, Sport, Online Purchases, Programs to retrieve personal data, etc.
- Block applications such as e-mail, Instant Messaging, P2P, FTP, etc.
- Create a list of URLs to which a parent wishes a child to have/not to have access (white and black list).
- Determine days and times for Internet access.
- Obtain user statistics and tables depicting filtering results.
- Manage the service remotely. The administrator (usually a parent) can manage the user profiles from a computer at work or any another computer. An active Internet connection is all that is required. Without having the software installed, a parent may at any time:
- give a child unlimited access (Allow All) or deny Internet usage (Deny All) for a limited period.
- use the "Allow" option to determine specific websites for a child to access, for example, to complete his/her homework, even though these sites belong to categories selected for filtering.
- use the "Deny" option to prevent a child’s access to specific websites, even though they belong to categories that have not been selected for filtering.
